Ice Cream Social 2009
Hundreds of Amberley residents gathered at Village Hall on August 23 for the Ice Cream Social. Despite the slightly cool temperature, all who attended enjoyed the warm community atmosphere that prevailed that evening. Many thanks to our Village employees for making this wonderful event possible!
Major Road Funding Approved

Amberley Village has been approved for $1,000,000 in federal stimulus funds for work on the entire length of Galbraith Road in the Village. The project is scheduled for completion in 2010 and will replace deteriorated base asphalt, certain stormwater catch basins and curbing, followed by rehabilitation and resurfacing of the road.
This will be an official Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) project, which has not been the case for the Village's past road projects. The Village staff and Amberley's engineers, CDS, worked together to meet ODOT's requirements for the project. They also met with Cincinnati Water Works and Duke Energy to discuss and plan for water main and gas main replacement under Galbraith Road in order to assure those projects would be completed soon, so that the utility replacements would not jeopardize the approval of this project. Both of these utilities are in compliance with schedules for work completion in summer/fall of 2009.

Arbor Day 2009
An enthusiastic corps of volunteers enjoyed beautiful spring weather as they spruced up the Village Hall grounds and areas of French Park on May 3. Beds were mulched; flowers, planted; trees and bushes, trimmed. The Beautification Committee also kicked off this year's Garden Awards contest. New this year was electronics recycling and a plant swap.
Amberley Green Advisory Committee
A citizen advisory committee is exploring possible uses of the Amberley Green property as a public green space and/or recreational space. Created by Council in March, they have a six-month timeframe for their work with specific parameters on its scope. They have divided into several task groups to investigate various ideas. Members were chosen based on their diversity of experience, viewpoints, demographics and geography as representative of the community.
Vision Plan 2018 presents a view of Amberley ten years from now that rests on three pillars – Economy, Environment and Community. The three pillars mutually support one another and weave together as an overall framework for decision-making by Council and Village staff. The Plan includes concrete goals, objectives and strategies for realizing the vision and enhancing the Village. Chaired by Vice Mayor Merrie Stillpass, the Long-Range Planning Committee consisted of residents appointed by Council along with two Council members. They conducted their work throughout 2008 and early 2009.
